I took alli for about three weeks. I am a healthy military service member with no history of medical problems. I just wanted to lose a few extra pounds while working out. I ended up having emergency surgery for perforated diverticulitis. The doctors have no clue why I would have this. I was 31 when this happened. Way too young to have diverticulitis.

I definitely dont recommend alli. I took it for 3 months didnt lose any weight but as soon as I stopped taking the pills (cuz of the nasty side effects) I gained 20 pounds!!! I was eating right counting my calorie and fat intake (as required) and nothing happened accept I couldnt fart cuz Id crap myself. The crap is oil and Id be sleeping and need to fart in the middle of the night and forget I was on alli so Id fart and out came oily crap right thru my undies onto the sheets of my bed which I had to change the sheets few times in the week. It might work for some but it definitely did nothing for me accept embarrass me.

I started taking Alli pills last summer and the first week of Sept. went to the hospital with my first bought of diverticulitis. I was hospitalized for a few days and due to the diet they put me on, I stopped taking Alli and just never started back up. The doctor was surprised I got diverticulitis because I was only 35 years old and that disease usually strikes people in their 60's. This summer I started taking Alli again, and just like last time, the first week of September I was in the hospital again for diverticulitis. My colon has finally healed and I was just about to take my first Alli pill when I realized, "It might be the Alli pills causing the change in my bowels that is making me get the diverticulitis!!! I searched the internet and found that there are many people out there thinking that their diverticulitis is linked to Alli. I am very suspicious since both times I took the Alli, I came down with Diverticulitis and I never had it before. And I am unusually young to have this disease.
