People complain the diet pushes too much red meat and cheese. Although Atkins was a big deal back in the day, it’s just not in the same league with today’s top diets like Nutrisystem or Medifast Diet.

I have been on Atkins since may 17th and have lost 22 lbs. This is my second time doing Atkins and is the only diet that works for me. This just gives me a little kick start to losing weight and I know I have to change my eating habits permanently to keep the weight off. However, on Atkins this time around I have incorporated low carb tortillas, low carb bread and low carb pasta so I dont feel I am missing anything. And because of the protein, I am not nearly as hungry as I have been on other diets. Yes, I eat salads with low carb dressings like ranch and eat my veggies, not potatoes, carrots, peas or corn of course. There are so many great low carb foods out there now it is ridiculous, you just have to do your homework before starting Atkins. I just love this diet. But its not for everyone, thats why there are about a zillion diets out there claiming to do the same thing. This one really works for me. It seems as you get older you have to eat less and exercise more. Good luck to all.

I agree with Ellen the diet is not all about meat and cheese for example, in induction you are supposed to get majority of the 20g daily carbs from your veggies (12-15g) If done right atkins actually encourages more healthy eating. if you are having trouble with it you are probably not doing it right..it works! Trust me i like my treats and good stuff i hate feeling deprived so,once in a while i treat myself so i don't feel deprived and if i feel i am going off the wagon i just get back on induction for a week or less . As for the constipation when i started drinking more water the problem has since stopped.... this diet has been good for me i eat more veggies than before, the meat, egg and cheese complaint is not true i only eat a serving of those a day my veggies is where i get most of my carbs, this diet calls for creativity and research if you do it right you can actually learn to modify the stuff you like to a more low carb friendly version. carbs are not off the menu each phase of this diet allows more carbs than the previous you just learn to eat the right amount that will not affect your weight loss or facilitate weight gain the diet is designed to give you the tools to eat the right amount of carbs just for your unique self.....by the time you get to the final phase of the diet if done right, you would have mastered how much carbs you need to stay within your new weight and maintain it. Sorry people if you lose weight and think you can go back to your old life style you are going to gain it back no matter what diet you do it has nothing to do with the diet. when i find myself going off the wagon i look at my habits and not the diet..

you dont eat just meat eggs and cheese...geez next time do your research before you try a diet. even in the induction phase you have to eat veggies, just certain ones. i don't get tired, no constipation, no headaches....in fact i feel much better than before being a mother of a 2 yr old in her terrible two's phase. also induction is not meant to be on for more than 2 weeks unless you are more than 10 lbs from your goal. and yes if you binge on bad carbs after losing the weight and stop eating healthy, you're going to get fat again. you cant expect this to last forever without changing your eating habits and lifestyle. it's not a miracle diet that fixes the problem so you never have to worry about getting fat again. reviews like that really tick me off.
