Atkins Diet Reviews

Atkins is now and has been the best way to lose weight. Learning how to eat "real" food and not processed, canned, delivered food is one of the best things about it. I can actually go to a restaurant and eat with friends and family and make wise choices. It's easy to do when I'm wearing clothes 3 sizes smaller! I started Adkins about 5 years ago and it changed my life for the better. Those who bad mouth it are those people who have no will power. I do admit, it does take will power especially during the first 2 weeks but after that when your clothes are beginning to fall off of you and you're not very hungry anymore, it's easy.

I am just 20 pounds overweight--or should I say was--I started Atkins 2 weeks ago. I can already wear pants that I couldn't consider wearing 2 weeks ago. I have been complaining about fatigue and depression to my doctor for the past year and a half. Amazingly enough, I am now feeling energetic and the depression seems like a distant memory. I even have moments when I feel hyper, which is something I haven't experienced in almost 10 years. I consider myself a gourmand, and I find the Atkins recipes are delicious and very satisfying.

Probably more important to me is that I have been a chocoholic since I can remember; at least 25 years. One week into the diet I binged, felt physically horrible, took the Atkins recommended amino acid to help curb cravings, and now I consider chocolate history. Quitting chocolate wasn't even in my contemplation when I started Atkins. Now I am weaning myself off of coffee. I do not even think about chips, sweets, cookies, bread, etc.

I very much like the holistic and naturopathic approach that Atkins takes to this diet. If you read the book, which I highly recommend, these aspects will emerge.

Another wonderful aspect of Atkins is that it addresses food intolerance. I had suspected that yogurt, nuts, and cheese cause problems for me, and with the Atkins book and diet the symptoms are far more easy to isolate. I have been able to eliminate or reduce these items from my diet, accompanied by Atkins recommended supplements, to determine for myself what my food sensitivities are.

I feel so empowered by this diet, because it is reinforcing life long habits that will keep me healthy and thin.

No long, drawn out stories. 5 Simple reasons why the Atkins Plan works.

1. Rapid initial weight loss. Yes, the majority of weight loss the first couple of weeks is water but that scale loss will motivate you!
2. You will NOT be hungry. The diet has satiating effects. Low calorie diets = 18hr a day cravings and ultimately that deadly binge weekend that puts you right back into your old lifestyle.
3. You will grow to love vegetables. Yes, you can coat them with a little butter and some olive oil and put salt on them. Your intake of salt will still be far lower than it is eating packaged diet foods or fast food.
4. Atkins is the same diet every nutritionist recommends. Once you lose the majority of your weight, you transition to a very broad variety of foods including meat, poultry, fish, eggs, almost every vegetables, some fruit, and nuts. You won't miss bread. There are low carb/high fiber alternatives for bread to make awesome wraps. Sugar free deserts can be to die for. Look up Dom's Cheesecake Pudding and try it.
5. Its far cheaper and healthier than any boxed meal plan. You'll be eating what the body loves and thrives on... Whole foods.

This is a lifestyle. Way too many uninformed yokels looking for a softer, easier way that make comments and most likely... are still fat and resentful. I understand that losing fat is difficult. the reality is, you have to restrict SOMETHING to lose weight. You can either do it by eating high sodium, tiny portion box meals and be starving an hour after you eat or you can feel full and healthy and get all of your blood levels in order by following Atkins.

This is the ONLY way of life eating that works for me.
