Jenny Craig Reviews

Jenny consultants are pressured to sell food, and more importantly to reach call quota. Consultants earn minimum wage plus percentage of food sales. If the consulatant you're assigned to can't extract money from you, management will pass you along to others until you place a full weeks order. The consultants are not paid to care, they are simply there to sell.

I paid for a lifetime membership eleven years ago with the Jenny Craig in Houston, located at Dairy Ashford and Memorial Drive. I had a very nice counselor, who spent a lot of time helping and advising me. I lost about 50 pounds in about 7 months. The food cost approximately $ 100 per week, plus the cost of the lifetime membership. I was very satisfied, and stopped going there after I had achieved my goal of losing 50 lbs.

About 5 years later, I had gained back about 30 pounds and went back to the same location to resume the program. I stopped after 1 month because there were 3 separate occasions when I went for my appointment, and either my counselor was not there or the office was completely closed.

Fast forward to the present time. I went back to the same location to try it again because I have had a big weight gain. The woman who talked to me in the office was nice. She looked me up in the computer, saw that I had a lifetime membership, weighed me, and sold me $ 130 worth of food. She said that she was not a regular counselor and that when I returned, in a week, a regular counselor would take my picture, weigh me, measure my body fat, and counsel me on ways to best obtain my weight loss goals.

When I returned a week later, another woman ushered me back into one of the individual offices. She did not introduce herself, and I never did find out her name. She did not take my picture, weight me, or measure my body fat. She was very unfriendly. When I asked about substituting salads that I would make myself to replace some of the Jenny Craig meals, in order to keep the cost down a little, she became openly hostile with me.

She rudely told me that if I did not buy 3 meals a day I would not get any counselling. She said I could come in once a week and buy whatever I wanted to buy, but if I didn't buy the 3 meals a day she couldn't waste her time talking to me.

I was so upset that I almost cried. I was very embarrassed and humiliated to be treated this way, especially after I had paid for a lifetime membership. I told her I had some meals left over from last week that I had not eaten. She said she didn't care, that I still had to buy 3 meals a day for the next week if I expected her to counsel me the next time I came in.

She pressured me into buying another $100 worth of food, although I really didn't need that much because I had been sick the previous week and really hadn't eaten much of the food I bought last week.

After I left, I really began to feel violated. I believe I was really in a state of shock at the way I had been treated. When I got home, I began looking on the internet for other weight loss programs. I found out that Medifast had an office about 20 minutes from my house. I called them up and asked if I could come right over. They said yes and I was in their office less than 2 hours after I had left Jenny Craig.

What a difference! Instead of high pressure sales women, working on commission, whose only interest in you is how much food you buy - the Medifast office I went to had TWO registered dietitcians. Both of them spent time with me totalling over an hour. They weighed me, measured my body fat, took my picture and explained the program. A week's worth of food was $ 78.50, compared to an average of $130 a week at Jenny Craig.

When I told them what had happened to me at Jenny Craig, they explained that they all worked on salaries at Medifast. They were VERY nice to me and I am looking forward to my appointment next week. They spent all the time I wanted, talking to me and telling me things to eat to lose weight that I could eat in conjunction with their diet products.

I would never go back to Jenny Craig again after the way I was treated today. If you want to deal with people who don't give a damn about you, except for how much food you buy, go to Jenny Craig at Dairy Ashford and Memorial Drive in Houston, Texas.

I joined jenny craig about a week ago. The second day on this diet I started getting bad pains in my stomach, so I called and left a message asking them to call me back.

No one returned my call! So, the next day I called and cancelled my next appointment... still no call back! They were quick to take my money, but no one cared enough to return my call for help!!!!

Thanks jenny in shrewsbury! not very supportive are you?
