I did the South Beach Diet a couple of years ago and had tremendous success. I lost and kept off around 16lbs.

Then, I went on a couple of vacations and went to my bad eating habits again. I gained back the 16lbs plus an additional 8 lbs. I am so disgusted with myself. I know the South Beach Diet really works but the phase 1 is really hard to get back into. I love fruit and hate to give it up. But my sugar cravings are out of control.

I work out 5 days a week doing hard cardio,Eliptical, Arc climber and treadclimber for a min. of 45 min. Then 20 min. of weights. But its my eating that seems to be getting the best of me. I am 55 years old 5'3" and weigh 143lbs. I would love to get down to 120 lbs.

So now that I have written this and put it out for everyone to see, I am committed to starting again. So wish me luck. I will check back in a month and let you know if I succeed.

I started South Beach about 4 weeks ago. I need to lose about 20 lbs. to be where I look good and feel the best. I did great the first 2 weeks and lost about 9 pounds and felt wonderful!

Instead of moving on to phase 2, I went a little crazy and started eating bad again gaining about 4 lbs. back. I am starting phase 1 again today and will hopefully move smoothly on to phase 2 without falling off the wagon! I recommend the South Beach diet.

I've been on South Beach for about two weeks and lost 10 pounds. I worry however that I'm losing water weight and not in fact all that dreadful fat I have managed to accumulate. I also worry that my big belly will never drop. But, having said that...I'm trying not to cheat on my diet - maybe a low-fat latte everyday isn't permissible but I can't give it up - and I'm running everyday for one hour. I think maybe I need to cut back on portions and really focus on making excellent eating decisions. I really want to lose this extra weight - for me and my children. I feel good - more energetic and getting addicted to exercise, but I still can't look at myself in the mirror. I miss my old self.
